Oh Father, Take This Cup From Me.

The Son of Man is all alone,

filled full with sorrow and forlorn.

He seeks His Father on His throne;

“Oh Father, take this cup from Me,

but as You will, so will it be,

it was for this that I was born.”

All His disciples are asleep,

their Master now returns to them:

“Could You this hour your watch not keep?

I am so troubled and in pain”.

But all His pleading is in vain.

He does not judge them nor condemn.

Three times He goes to weep and pray,

yet seeks to do His Father’s will.

Then with His friends He goes away.

He’ll be betrayed and He’ll be tried.

Soon now He will be crucified.

Old prophecy will then fulfill.
