Finnish translation by Lea Alaja,
choir arrangement by Marja Väisänen

I translated Julie's song "Rest In Me" into Finnish.  This translation has
been living in my mind for several months and it was not easy to translate.
Anyway, the lyrics of the song are so wonderful and I couldn't get rid of it.

A month ago the translation was finished and I am quite pleased with it.
Then I gave it to Marja and she agreed with me that this song would minister
both to the church and to the people in hospital as well.  We always have
hospitals in mind as we choose the songs.

Then comes this impossible part of the story:

The melody of the song is so great and wonderful and I believe Julie wrote
it for herself as a soloist.  It was almost impossible for us to arrange it
for our little amateur choir, to find the notes and the sounds and fit in
the words and for our choir to learn it then.

So a melody began to sound in Marja's mind and she composed the song again
(with Julie's permission), following the translated Finnish words.
The new melody is simpler than Julie's but I think it is beautiful,
it reflects the nature of Julie's song and the lyrics and has the same anointing
as Julie's song. It has some sound figures which I think are Finnish.

LEPÄÄ SÄ VAAN
(Rest in me)
engl.san. Julie Joyner   (English words by Julie)
suom.san. Lea Alaja    (Finnish words by Lea)
säv. ja kuorosov. Marja Väisänen
(music and arr. for choir by Marja)

1.    Lepää sä vaan ja odota,
ääntäni nyt kuule ja seuraa Minua,
    vain kuuntele ja ole hiljaa.

2.    Rakastan sua ja suojelen,
    näytän sulle tien, niin ihmeellisen,
    parhaani sulle tahdon antaa.

Kerto 1:
Koskaan en sua harhaan mä vie
    enkä johdata vaaraan.
On vanhurskas ja pyhä tämä tie.
Sun parastasi tahdon ja sua vain rakastan.

3.    Luota sä vaan, rakkaimpani.
    Olen Jumalasi, tein kaiken puolestasi.
    Älä pelkää huomispäivää.

4.    Oon sinut luonut, ymmärräthän,
tekosi mä tiesin jo ennen syntymääs.
    Oi, luokseni sä tule vaan.

Kerto 2:
Iankaikkisella rakkaudella
    sua rakastan, en hylkää koskaan.
    Ja teoistasi huolimatta
sut lunastin ja omakseni ostin kokonaan.

5.    Oon sinut luonut, ymmärräthän,
tekosi mä tiesin jo ennen syntymääs.
    Oi, luokseni sä tule vaan.

    Kerto 2:
Iankaikkisella rakkaudella
    sua rakastan, en hylkää koskaan.
    Ja teoistasi huolimatta
sut lunastin ja omakseni ostin kokonaan.

Sua rakastan, se usko vaan, Minuun luota vaan.

I attach here a mp3-file of Marja's composition of Julie's song
"Rest in Me".  It's a live recording in our church service tonight....

This song has ministered to many people during this fall.  Our hospital
choir leader, Päivi, sang it for a month ago in a church meeting.  In two
weeks we are planning  to sing it in our women's seminar and maybe also at
our New Year's conference in January. as well as in hospitals during the
coming months.  I hope you and Julie like it as much as we do.

Translation from the Finnish words to English:

1.     Just rest and wait,
listen to My voice and follow Me,
    listen and be still.
2.    I love you and I shelter you,
I show you the way, so wonderful,
I want to give My best for you.

Chorus 1:
I never bring you astray,
nor lead you into a danger.
This way is righteous and holy.
I want your best and I love you.

3.    Just trust in Me, my dearest,
I´m your God, I did everything for you.
    Don´t be afraid of tomorrow.
4.    I have made you, please understand,
I knew what you would do even before your birth.
    Oh, only come to Me.

Chorus 2:
With an everlasting love
I love you, I never forsake you.
And in spite of the things you have done
I redeemed you and bought you to be entirely Mine.

5.    I have made you, please understand,
I knew what you would do even before your birth.
    Oh, only come to Me.

Chorus 2:
With an everlasting love
I love you, I never forsake you.
And in spite of the things you have done
I redeemed you and bought you to be entirely Mine.

I love you, only believe and trust in Me.
