GOD'S TRUE SON

As we witness the Transfiguration:
Matthew 17:1-6, Mark 9:1-8, Luke 9:28-36,
John 1:14, 2 Peter 1:16-18

1.
We have hiked up this mountain together.
We will follow wherever You lead.
Walking, talking and praying together,
Friend and Master.

How good, Lord, to be here, beside You.
How good it is to be Your friend.
Today we'll see a piece of heaven,
we will learn Who You are:
You truly are the Son of God.

2.
You're more glowing than ever we've seen You.
You are filled with a brilliant light,
glowing dazzlingly brighter and brighter,
You are holy!

How good, Lord, to be here, to see You.
How good it is to see Your light.
We think, but cannot yet confess it,
that we see Who You are:
You truly are the Son of God.

3.
Now, Elijah and Moses beside You,
talking with You of heavenly things,
Law and Prophecy worship and praise You,
they adore You.

How good to be here with the Prophet.
How good to be here with the Law.
The Law will obey You forever.
Prophets know Who You are:
You truly are the Son of God.

4.
Lord, we'll build here some shelters for You,
where Elijah and Moses can dwell,
while You teach us the wisdom of ages.
Be our Master.

How good if we could stay forever.
How good to see You all our days.
How good to have You always with us.
Teach us, Lord, Who You are:
You truly are the Son of God.

5.
There's a cloud growing bigger and brighter,
it surrounds us with fear and awe.
From the cloud we hear, "This is My Son,
listen to Him."

How good, Lord, to be here, and know You.
How good it is to quake in awe.
You ask us not to tell the others,
that we know Who You are:
You truly are the Son of God.

6.
We're confused, Lord, with what You are saying:
"Son of Man, Who will rise from the dead."
We'll soon know You will reign forever
in Your glory.

How good to be here with You, Jesus.
How good to know Your grace and truth.
Today, we've seen majestic glory.
We will tell ev'ryone:
You truly are the Son of God.
